Principal André Soluri, traveled to
India between September 24 and October 15, 2005
on business, pleasure & research. The three
week trip included visits to Delhi, Agra, Chandigarh,
Mumbai (Bombay), Aurangabad, Ellora, Ajanta
and Kolkata (Calcutta). As in his other travels,
André generated an extensive body of
photographic images and sketches to better understand
the culture and its architectural monuments.
In addition, André traveled to Chandigar,
to continue research on a project that began
in Brasilia called (Re)Mapping Modernism.
The project seeks to understand how these
Modernist cities are actually occupied as opposed
to their designers' intentions so as to learn
from their achievements and failures.
