Patrick Soluri is a multi-talented composer based in New York City who specializes in dramatic music for orchestra, ballet, opera, film & TV. His love of telling stories through music is evident in his large body of work and commissions for the stage, screen and concert hall. He has studied with many illustrious composers and musicians and received numerous honors & recognitions.

Highlights include commissions for several orchestral ballet scores, film scores, and many orchestral concert works. In addition, he has written and produced hundreds of tracks of evocative music for film & TV in multiple genres ranging from orchestral, jazz and industrial to rock and world music.

His works have been performed, recorded and showcased by the New York City Opera, the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, the Astoria Symphony and the Manhattan Virtuosi, among others. His ballet scores have been performed by Dances Patrelle featuring dancers from American Ballet Theater and New York City Ballet.

In addition to composing, his abilities have enabled him to work fluidly as an Orchestrator and Music Producer in numerous styles of music.

 
 
HOT NEWS:
   
Mr. Soluri recently orchestrated several episodes for the third season of the Emmy winning children's TV show, "THE WONDERPETS." These episodes were recorded by a live chamber orchestra and will air on Nick Jr in early 2009. The show won the 2008 Daytime Emmy for Best Music.

For a second year in a row Mr. Soluri has been selected to be included in the Who's Who in America as a distinguished composer (Marquis 2006 & 2007 editions) . He was also selected to be included in the 2007 Who's Who of Emerging Leaders representing the best of a new generation of achievers worldwide under the age of 40.
   
   
Ballet
Pas de Deux - Two ballets by Patrick Soluri (CD cover)Mr. Soluri was commissioned for the orchestral score to a ballet by Dances Patrelle "What do We do About Mother" -- his 3rd ballet score with choreographer Francis Patrelle. Featured dancers included Jenifer Ringer and Stephen Hanna (principal dancers, New York City Ballet) with five performances March 23-25, 2007 at the Alvin Ailey Theater in New York City. Check out the March 26th New York Times review which exclaims, "a colorful score by Patrick Soluri."

Madame X, Mr. Soluri's second ballet with choreography by Frances Patrelle, was performed by Dances Patrelle for their 15th Anniversary Season. The cast featured Marcelo Gomes (renowned principal dancer from American Ballet Theater) in the role of Dr. Pozzi and Sandra Brown (former soloist with American Ballet Theater) in the role of Madame X. Originally commissioned in 1998 and premiered in 1999 this work was well received by both audiences and the press with reviews in the NY Times, the NY Daily News, Back Stage and others. Performances were April 22 - 24, 2004 at the Danny Kaye Playhouse in New York City and April 16 -18, 2004 in Tivoli, NY at Kaatsbaan.
   
   
Opera
Mr. Soluri was selected as a 2007/2008 Resident Artist in the American Lyric Theater’s Composer Librettist Development Program in NYC. Five composers and five libretists where selected from around the country and paired up over nine weeks to workshop new pieces with a who's who in the opera world. The program culminated in a public a workshop moderated by Mark Adamo in early 2008 at Symphony Space. For this performance Mr. Soluri wrote the short opera ADAM AND EVE, with a libretto by fellow CLDP resident artist QUINCY LONG.
   
The Inferno of Dante: Canto V is an operatic setting of the fifth Canto from Dante's masterpiece. This work is the latest in an ongoing series of operatic compositions by Mr. Soluri using the Inferno of Dante. This work was selected by New York City Opera and featured in their VOX 2003: Showcasing American Composers which culminated in a public presentation of the work with full orchestra and cast of singers on May 7, 2003 in New York City.
   
   
Film & TV:
Mr. Soluri has written 200+ cues for a soon to be released major Film & TV music library in various musical styles from orchstral film trailers to world music to industrial to big band jazz and much more. In addition recordings of his orchestral works are available on additional Film & TV Libraries including Reeltracks & ScoreKeepers. In addition he has written & produced demos for commericals from clients such as Leap Musc, BBH London & the Lodge.
   
Mr. Soluri scored the independent short film "A Lesson in Biology" by writer/director Keno Ryder. It has hit the film festival circuit and accepted into 15+ festivals, is building a buzz and even a few awards! Check out music from the film!

In 2007 Mr. Soluri released "PAS DE DEUX - TWO BALLETS BY PATRICK SOLURI". It contains orchestral recordings of "What do We do About Mother" and "Madame X" by Manhattan Chamber Orchestra conducted by Richard Auldon Clark. The recording process was a truly amazing experience and was fortunate to work with incredible people, such as conductor Richard Auldon Clark, engineer Joe Castellon (NY Philharmonic, Rolling Stones, Dizzy Gillespie and everyone in between!) and producer Richard Martinez (Elliot Goldenthal).

The CD was mastered by mastering engineer Andreas Meyer (Sony Music Studios NYC and Meyer Media). The new CD is available online at iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby and other online retailers!
   
Rock & Roll
After more then a 10 year hiatus, Mr. Soluri returned to playing the drums and joined the experimental rock band the Freedom Haters. A unique fusion of conservatory trained classical and jazz musicians and rock, their sound is a unique blend of an electricfied string trio (violin, viola & cello), plus saxophone, vocals and rhythm section (electric bass, drums and keyboards). There was a huge turnout for the bands debut performance at CBGB's Gallery -- closing weekend of CBGB's. Since then they've played venus in NYC such as Galapagos, Sine, Cake Shop, Matchless, Don HIll's, Kenny's Castaways and others. The band is currently working on their first album and completed by fall 2008.
 
Musical Theater
Mr. Soluri has colaborated with the creative team behind a musical theater comedy that is in development called BERT RIGBY YOU'RE A FOOL; he produced the demo and orchestrated three songs for a 21 piece pit orchesra in the style of traditional musicals. Check out the demo recordings!
