The Salon @ Salon NYC
July 22, 2006
It was a hot and steamy night in the city that never sleeps. Over at the Salon, J.C. was tickling the ivories; the dames were breaking hearts and the gents were dressed to the nines. Two bands on two floors with two bars. All that was missing... was you.
Unlike past Salons, this one was different. Instead of hosting it in my apartment I asked several friends to help host a salon in a rented space. Ironically I found a beautiful two floor Art Deco inspired lounge called "The Salon, in the West Village.
It was a huge success with more then 250 people attending! We had two bands; The JC Hopkins Biggish Band featuring Andromeda Turre, a 12 piece big band with mostly original tunes by JC Hopkins. The second band was Vintage a 1920's & 30's quartet playing music of the era. Guest performers included a belly dancer, singer/songwriters, classical duets and others. At the bar the specialty drinks were invented and researched by Kevin Brown such as the French75, KB's Perfect Manhattan, a Proper Mint Julep and a Basil & Ginger Mojito. What started as a quest to rent a space with air conditioning evolved into an amazing event and just the beginning...
This Salon was hosted by Patrick Soluri, Tom & Judith Sunshine of TommyWhiteTie.com and Andre Soluri and Lesley Martin of Prohibition Productions (the same folks who brought you the Piano Store). |
