With the experience of having edited some 212 seminal photographs of astronomical phenomena from more than 15,000 images of space exploration, I realized there was an absence of insightful, interpretive photographs of the people and place of space exploration.
Currently in the second of a ten year personal documentary project, I have begun to photographically portray scientists, astronomers, engineers and space professionals in their earth-based “space exploration” environments — like those participating in NASA’s New Horizons Pluto mission — whose combined scientific efforts result, in part, to the kinds of astronomical images found in What’s Out There! Images from Here to the Edge of the Universe.
